القت  قوات الأمن بالاسكندرية  يوم الجمعةالقبض التعسفى على  عضو الجمعية التأسيسية لوضع دستور 2012، والبرلماني السابق والاستاذ الجامعي د/ محمد محيي الدين- 49 سنة -  عقب اقتحام منزله في محافظة الإسكندرية،وتزامناً مع اقتحام منزل والده وتفتيشه . رداً على موقفه الرافض لتعديلات الدستور والتى تهدف إلى تمديد ولاية  عبد الفتاح السيسي حتى عام 2034، من خلال زيادة مدة الرئاسة من 4 إلى6 سنوات، والسماح للأخير بالترشح مجدداً بعد انتهاء ولايته الثانية في 2022.وأسس محيي الدين، مع العديد من الشخصيات العامة والحزبية البارزة، تكتلاً تحت اسم "اتحاد الدفاع عن الدستور"، والذي يعد من أهم أهدافه "خلق كيان جامع لكل المصريين من دون تمييز، يعلو فوق أي خلاف أو انتماء حزبي أو فكري، ولهدف محدد هو التصدي ومقاومة ووقف الاعتداء الصارخ على الدستور المصري ونشر محيي الدين البيان الصادر أخيراً عن الاتحاد قبيل اعتقاله على صفحته الشخصية بموقع "فيسبوك"، والذي"ثمن دور المواطنين الموقعين على بيان رفض التعديلات غير الدستورية، والذين بلغوا ثلاثين ألفاً في أسبوع واحد، رغم القمع غير المسبوق الذي تتعرض له المعارضة، وحقوق المواطن المصري من حرية إبداء الرأي، والحق في التعبير"، داعياً المصريين إلى مواصلة التوقيعات الإلكترونية الشعبية حتى تصل إلى مائة ألف توقيع.
