قالت أسرة الدكتور محمد البلتاجي، إن حالته الصحية تدهورت خلال الفترة الأخيرة وأصيب بجلطة دماغية داخل محبسه، ولا تعرف الأسرة ما تم اتخاذه من إجراءات لعلاجه في ظل استمرار منعه من الزيارة داخل محسبه بسجن العقرب للعام الثالث على التوالي.وأوضحت الأسرة في بيان لها أنهم فوجئوا بظهور أعراض الجلطة عليه في أخر جلسات محاكمته بداية من الإجهاد الواضح عليه وصولًا لتأثر ذراعه بذلك وما ذكره من حضروا الجلسة من الأسر والمحامين من عدم قدرته على تحريكها.واستنكرت الأسرة رفض المستشار محمد شرين فهمي الاستماع لشكواه، أو مطالبة محاميه باتخاذ إجراءات عاجلة طبية لتوفير الرعاية والعلاج وحملت "أسرة البلتاجي" كل من وزارة الداخلية ومصلحة السجون والنائب العام المسؤولية الكاملة عن حياته وطالبتهم بنقله فورا للعرض على أطباء بما تحتاجه حالته الصحية ولو على نفقة أسرته.كما دعت "أسرة البلتاجي" المنظمات الحقوقية والجهات الدولية المختلفة للتدخل لدى السلطات المصرية للحفاظ على حياته وغيره من المئات الذين يعانون من الانتهاكات المختلفة وعلى رأسها الإهمال الطبي الذي أودى بحياة الكثيرين.
